Tweezers

Toilet sets were commonly found in female burials in Anglo-Saxon times. These tweezers look quite similar to those used today.

Other toilet items might include ear scoops, nail or tooth picks. These tweezers are on loan to the Ashmolean from the Right Honourable Lord Northbourne. Made from copper alloy, they date from AD 450-600, Cambridgeshire.
